Coming out of college, Zion Williamson is perhaps the most polarizing young prospect the league has seen in years. His newest shoe deal matches his own iconic brand.
On Twitter, Williamson announced he would be signing with Jordan Brand, the athletic gear company of the famous 14x All-Star himself, Michael Jordan.
“I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Jordan Brand family," Williamson said. "Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had and continues to have today. He was one of those special athletes I looked up to, and I really can’t express how happy and excited I am for this journey.”
The NBA legend and current Hornets owner responded to his company's newest signee, and the praises were high on all fronts.
“Zion’s incredible determination, character and play are inspiring," Jordan said. "He’s an essential part of the new talent that will help lead the brand into the future. He told us he would ‘shock the world,’ and asked us to believe him. We do."
This seems like a partnership made in heaven. As Williamson comes into his own in the NBA, he will be repping the gear of one of the biggest faces of basketball -- who Zion has won over with his character and work ethic.
The 19-year-old phoenom averaged 22 points per game with Duke last season, making him one of the highest valued college prospects in some time.
