TNT's infamous Inside the NBA crew is unmatched. Those guys have real chemistry together and make for a very interesting and entertaining broadcast show.
ESPN tried to assemble a team of their own to compete with TNT -- but the results were less than ideal. What they got in the NBA Countdown crew was a bunch of embarrassingly awkward moments and a show that could never live up to the hype of its predecessor.
That is about to change. According to a source, three of the four mainstays on ESPN's primetime NBA show will not be returning when next year's NBA season tips off -- Michelle Beadle, Paul Pierce, and Chauncey Billups will all be leaving the show at the conclusion of the NBA Finals.
ESPN issued this comment regarding the report:
As for replacements, several candidates have been named. To take Beadle's spot as the lead host, Rachel Nichols and Maria Taylor have been named. Other names for the rest of the team include Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, and Dwyane Wade.
It will be interesting to see how things turn out for NBA Countdown -- the show certainly has a lot of potential. But can they ever compete with the Shaq/Ernie/Chuck/Kenny combo?
