It's been 2017 since Monta Ellis was last on an NBA roster. After being let go by Indiana, the shooting guard has yet to find a new playing home despite being just 33-years-old.
But could he be close to an NBA return?
He looked good in a recent video where spotted on Tuesday playing pick-up hoops with current Mavs players Luka Doncic, Justin Jackson and rookie Isaiah Roby.
Monta averaged 19.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in 162 appearances for Dallas, shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from behind the 3-point arc and 77.4 percent from the free-throw line.
He is attempting an NBA comeback but has yet to garner any real attention after working out with several players and scouts over the past few weeks.
The problem for Ellis is his outside shooting, a struggle that has plagued him since the start of his career. With the new-age NBA basically requiring small guards to shoot nowadays, he became an increasing liability for the Pacers until they finally waived him in the summer of 2017.
IT will be interesting to see if he can make a return to the league.
