After winning Euroleague MVP at just 18-years-old, Luke Doncic knew what he could do coming into the NBA. Not everyone did, though.
The world had no idea what to expect, and when he was drafted 3rd overall in the 2018 Draft (and subsequently traded to the Mavericks) he was considered a mystery, of sorts.
The mystery was quickly solved as he played out his rookie season, putting up unreal numbers en-route to winning Rookie of the Year. A season later, with Kristaps Porzingis, he is leading the Mavericks to one of the best records in the West.
NBA analyst Will Cain says he has already earned a spot in the NBA's top-10.
Of course, Luka has his flaws. He struggles to stop opponents on the defensive end and still has room to step up as a leader.
Nonetheless, what he is doing as a 20-year-old sophomore is unprecedented. In just his second season, he is averaging 28 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game on 48% shooting. After last night's performance, he now has 4 30+ point games this season alone.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks are tied for 7th place in the West with a 6-4 record. It will be interesting to see how far he can take them this season as he continues to build a case for himself as one of the best in the game.
