The NBA has fired a photographer who posted an extremely offensive meme aimed at US senator Kamala Harris. Bill Baptist, who was in the bubble and worked with the Houston Rockets for more than 30 years, according to USA Today, was fired and kicked out of the bubble.

The reason for his dismissal was a meme that included Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s official 2020 campaign logo a little twisted. Instead of “Joe 2020” in the blue circle, it reads “Jo and the Ho". Kamala Harris was recently announced as running mate for Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential elections. Baptist shared the meme without any comment. Instead, he received a lot for the post.

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes reacted to this, calling out Baptist and asking the league to take action against this kind of post.

“So this guy works for the NBA but covers the Houston Rockets. Has been around for a while. Even worked for the Houston Comets. It’s amazing how people will smile in your face but eventually their true colors will show.

“@NBA and Houston Rockets he needs to GO!!! So disrespectful Bill Baptiste (sic) shame.”

The NBA took care of things and announced they had release Baptist.

“The photographer is an independent contractor and his services are no longer being used in Orlando.”

He also issued a statement, apologizing for the meme, stating that the post “does not reflect my personal views at all.”

“I deeply regret posting on my facebook page a phrase that I saw and copied from others as a sample of some people’s reactions to Biden’s selection of Senator Harris as his choice for VP. The phrase I posted does not reflect my personal views at all. I should not have been so insensitive to post the statements by others. I sincerely apologize to all of those who have rightfully been offended and I have taken the post down from my FB page. It was a horrible mistake on my part.”

Tension in America is very palpable right now. There is polarization across the country and the little thing that you do and said will get you in trouble. However, Baptist took things to the next level, sharing a very disrespectful meme about a US senator, working for one of the biggest brands in the world. It is simply unacceptable.
