Zion Williamson’s fellow rookies don’t believe he will be the best player in his class. In fact, only 5% of respondents in the 2019/20 NBA Rookie Survey said Williamson would have the best career of the 2019 draftees.

Furthermore, rookies see his former Duke teammate Cam Reddish as the most promising player of the last NBA draft. He received 19% of the vote for the question. Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (16%) and Hawks forward De'Andre Hunter (11%) also ranked higher than Williamson, who is seen by plenty of fans as the next big thing in the NBA.

Three other players, Jaxson Hayes (Pelicans), RJ Barrett (Knicks) and Coby White (Bulls), matched Williamson at 5%.

Zion was the biggest story of college basketball last season, turning a lot of heads to him, becoming a star even before making the NBA. He averaged 22.6 points, along with 8.9 rebounds, while shooting 68% from the field during his first and only season with the Blue Devils. After his good performances in college and all the hype around him, the Pelicans drafted Williamson with the first overall pick of the 2019 NBA draft.

Reddish, on the other hand, was selected No. 10 by the Hawks.

Williamson is set to join a Pelicans team full of young and exciting players that can make some noise next season. As for Reddish, he will land in a Hawks team full of potential, but with some years ahead before actually being considered a real contender in the East.

Still, the rookies see Williamson favored to win the Rookie of the Year among members of his draft class, as 35% of respondents in the survey predicted he'd take home the award.

These two are the next generation of players and we have a lot to see before picking who was the best one; let’s enjoy both players’ game and their development for now.
