The Boston Celtics are about to lose not only one point guard but two in the upcoming NBA free agency. Having that in mind, the Greens have started to look for the proper pieces to fill the voids that both Kyrie Irving and Terry Rozier would leave in the roster. Luckily for their fans, the team has reportedly started to build a list of targets to chase if that happens.
They have been rumored to be interested in pursuing Charlotte Hornets’ Kemba Walker, but as the days go by, their list gets bigger and now there is another name who sounds very appealing for the Celtics. Boston could potentially target Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon in free agency, according to Yahoo Sports.
Moreover, they are looking at another guard in Tomas Satoransky of the Wizards as well, according to the report.
Both Brogdon and Satoransky are restricted free agent, so any offer that the Celtics make, their respective teams can match it, but we’re talking about Boston, a team that won’t have many options when it comes to the point guard position next season, so big deals might be made for them in order to land any of these two.
Brogdon is considered the favorite to land in TD Garden; he is one of the most efficient players in the NBA and could be a great fit for Brad Stevens’ squad. Last season he averaged 15.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in 64 matches with the Milwaukee Bucks who went to play the Eastern Conference Finals against the Toronto Raptors.
Another position the C’s will try to cover is the center, given that Al Horford is on his way out of the team and Washington big man Thomas Bryant, who is also a restricted free agent, is seen as a very good alternative for the 17-time NBA champions following the trade of Aron Baynes.
They are going to have a very entertaining free agency, but right now everything points out that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be the leaders of this team next season.
