NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls May Land Derrick Rose Next Season

Derrick Rose

It has been a rollercoaster season for former MVP Derrick Rose. He started the 2018/19 campaign off the races, posting his best numbers since 2012 and becoming a leading candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. Unfortunately, his season was cut short in familiar fashion after discovering a chip fracture in his elbow that required surgery.

The complexities of the season have many wondering what lies ahead for the recovering point guard. He proved he can still play at a high level given the right situation, but more injuries will make teams hesitant to trust his fragile body.

In a Q & A with the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson, the NBA insider revealed that he could be an option for Chicago if the Bulls are willing to deal with the risks.

I wrote a column in late January advocating for this move that engendered plenty of reaction. My sense after writing the piece was that it wasn’t out of the question. Since then, though Rose has endured more injuries, which would make this less of a possibility. There are other options In Ricky Rubio, Darren Collison and Patrick Beverley.

Derrick Rose is a fan favorite in Chicago, making 3 All-Star appearances and winning one MVP in 2011. Since his departure, the team has been rather lethargic, playing their way into the lottery and becoming one of the league's worst teams.

As they continue their assault of young talent and draft picks, where Rose might fit in that scheme is still a big question mark.

It will be interesting to see where the hopeful guard lands next, and if he can finally stay healthy enough to have the breakout season we have all been waiting for.
