After an abysmal few seasons, the Lakers are poised to bring the glory days back to Los Angeles. A summer following the acquisition of LeBron James, they went and traded for Anthony Davis. And now, according to a recent report, they have the chance to add Jimmy Butler.
"If we're looking for the 'wow' move, there's one name on that list [of free agents] that jumps out to me now that they've cleared this space: Jimmy Butler. Jimmy has always wanted to play for the Lakers, in Los Angeles. If he, in his mind, can go to a place where he knows, 'I'm not the man, but I can help try to win a title...'"
The 4x All-Star had a rocky campaign last year. A dramatic exit saw him leave the Timberwolves in the midst of smoke and fire, he went to Philly where he was not a good fit right away. With AD, LeBron, and $32 million in cap space, the Lakers are adding Butler to their wish list.
No doubt, he is looking to remake his legacy this summer -- whether that means staying in Philadelphia, or going to L.A. He recently turned down his extension with the 76ers, but they are expected to offer him the full max contract this offseason.
