For the longest time, Kemba Walker was seen as a Charlotte lifer by those around the league. At one point, the All-Star guard even suggested he would take less so that the Hornets could build a team around him.
Today, Walkers' future seems to have changed direction.
As reported by The Athletic's Shams Charania, Kemba is expected to take a four year, $141 Million with the Celtics this summer.
Negotiations between Walker and the Hornets broke down when they refused to offer what the star guard was looking for. With the Celtics likely to lose Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, they have the means to give Kemba what he wants this offseason. He will join Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Gordon Hayward in Boston, as they look to redeem a lost and broken 2018-19 season.
The Lakers, Clippers, and Knicks were other teams expected to join the Walker sweepstakes this summer. Considering the fast progression of his decision, however, they are unlikely to get any chance once meetings can take place on Sunday.
