In terms of bright young point guards, not many can match the talent of D'Angelo Russell. The 2019 All-Star has rebounded well from his failed tenure in Los Angeles and is due to hit free agency this summer after a great season in Brooklyn that saw him finally reach his All-Star level potential.
Besides an extension from the Nets, Russell is going to be pursued by multiple other teams this summer, according to Shams Charania.
A market is forming for Nets All-Star and restricted free agent DeAngelo Russell: Utah, Orlando, Minnesota and Indiana are among the teams expected to show an interest aside from Brooklyn, sources said.
Anyone of those teams listed could benefit greatly from Russell. Orlando and Minnesota especially, who are in desperate need of an upgrade, will probably be leading the charge for his services. As an elite shooter and playmaker, he would be a good fit just about anywhere.
As the summer nears, it will be interesting to see where the dominoes fall. If the Nets land Kyrie, it could send D'Angelo packing somewhere else. Nonetheless, wherever he ends up, expect his decision to make some big waves for the rest of the NBA.
