The Sacramento Kings haven't been the best team in the NBA for quite some time now, but they're planning to make some moves to try to get back to the top of the West and make a run to the Finals. The Kings are one of the worst teams in the league and no matter how many opportunities they have, they always blow their chance to land a good player and create a competitive team (picking Marvin Bagley over Luka Doncic, for example).
Well, the Kings changed their management this offseason and their plans are really big. According to Craigory Smith, Sacramento have set their eyes on none other than current 2x NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in the summer of 2021. Giannis will be a free agent next year and the Kings want to be one of those teams pushing for his services.
Things aren't going very well for Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks, who suffered a gentleman swept against the Miami Heat in the Orlando bubble. The team's ownership has committed to spending money to bring the right pieces for Giannis to compete for the title. Next season is going to be very important for the Bucks and their star. If they don't make the Finals, Giannis will probably leave for a bigger market.
However, it's not like Sacramento actually fits in that 'bigger market' category, so it would be interesting to see what their plan to attract Giannis is. The Greek Freak has been linked with the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors and even the Los Angeles Lakers in the past, so the competition will be extremely hard for the Kings if they're serious about bringing Antetokounmpo in.
