For almost the entire 2016-17 NBA season, talks have circulated about Jimmy Butler and a potential trade. Nothing has happened as of yet, and the Bulls showed some real fight in the first round of this year's playoffs. For the Bulls (and Butler), however, it is becoming clear that moving on may be the best thing.
According to the Cane and Ice Show, among other reports, Jimmy could be on the move!
Los Angeles. The Bulls are reportedly offering Butler for D'Angelo Russell, Luol Deng, and a late first round draft pick. For the Lakers, this could be the trade they were looking for. They could get Deng's terrible contract off the books, and bring in the superstar everyone was waiting for.
It all of that worth their best young player, though? That's the question L.A. must ask themselves if they are seriously considering a deal this big.
The Bulls seem ready to face a hard core rebuild mode, by starting fresh with a young point guard. With no Butler, it may also mean no D-Wade as well. The chips are in place for this mega-deal, if both sides are willing to risk it all.
Rather than assuming Butler is stuck in Chicago, it's time to realize that Butler could be in L.A. sooner than we all thought.
