Anthony Davis wasn’t having the best season with the Los Angeles Lakers before he went down with an injury but now that he’s inactive, the team is struggling to win and not even LeBron James has been able to keep them afloat.
There is concern surrounding the purple and gold and people have started worrying about the squad and what could happen to them if Davis doesn’t return in the near future. The big man was key for their success last season and he will be this one if they aspire to win back-to-back titles.
Plenty of people don’t think they can win without AD and one of those is Nick Wright. The Fox Sports analyst recently said that if they don’t have the Brow in the Finals, they won’t win it, although he did say that they will be fine without the 27-year-old in their run through the Western Conference.
“The Lakers can’t win the title without Anthony Davis,” Wright said on First Things First. “I do think they can win the West without AD — they could beat the Suns, Clippers, and Jazz. But AD is going to be there.”
The Lakers are expecting AD’s return in a couple of weeks from now. The player is more important than people believed and this bad stretch is the biggest sample of that. We’ll see how things go for this team come playoff time. They need Davis’ contributions and if he’s not there to help them, perhaps the Lakers wouldn’t be able to get out of the West.
