Pat Riley On LeBron James And NBA Finals: "The Lakers Were Great. They Were A Great Team. And They Have The Greatest Player In The Game Today, With LeBron And Anthony Davis, And A Cast Of Real Veteran Players. They Beat Us Fair And Square."

Pat Riley has given props to LeBron James, congratulating the King and his team, the Los Angeles Lakers for their victory in the NBA Finals. Although Riley's Miami Heat surprised everybody, making all the way through the Finals when nobody believed in them, they couldn't do much against the Los Angeles Lakers, who beat them in six games at the start of this month.

Riley's relationship with LeBron James hasn't been the best since the King left the Miami Heat in 2014 to return to his first team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have had some rifts over the past couple of years but that didn't stop the legendary coach and executive to praise him for his performance in the big series.

"The Lakers were great. They were a great team. And they have the greatest player in the game today, with LeBron and Anthony Davis, and a cast of real veteran players. They beat us fair and square."

While he praised the Lakers, he also talked about his team and its biggest figure, Jimmy Butler, who was one of the best players in the NBA bubble. Butler led the Heat through the postseason and was the main reason why the Heat won two games against the powerful Lakers.

"Jimmy is Superman, those 2 games he had are 2 of the best games ever that I've seen.""Don't make me go back and do that, I'll think about it all winter. And lament, if only."

The future is bright for this team. They have a good leader in Butler and a lot of good young players. Riley has demonstrated he is an expert assembling competitive teams and the Heat may be now one piece away from becoming perennial contenders in the East.

He won't probably land another LeBron James but this team could make some moves to have a bigger bid at the NBA championship.
