The Los Angeles Clippers are surrounded by a huge expectation ahead of the 2019/20 NBA season, and it’s not a surprise after seeing the good things they did last season and the moves they made during the summer, getting two of the best players in the game in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
It was George who claimed the Clips have the biggest chance to win the NBA title next season, based on the fact that they have the best duo in the league. After the entertaining free agency we lived, the anatomy of the association has changed, and every contender counts with a duo to take them to the title.
The Los Angeles Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Brooklyn Nets have Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Houston Rockets have Russell Westbrook and James Harden, and the Clippers have the mentioned Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.
With all these guys teaming up, it’s normal to see people arguing which is the best duo in the league. NBA.com’s Shaun Powell asked PG-13 if their level on both ends of the floor makes him and Kawhi the best duo in the league.
“I think so. When you look at two guys that play both ends, two guys that can go and get a basket, two guys that can stop you from getting a basket. Elite on both ends. I don’t see how you can beat that,” George replied.
Nobody can say the opposite; George and Leonard are two of the best defenders in the league right now, and their offense is as good or better than their defense. Added to these two, the Clippers count with a group of elite defenders.
Having these two makes things easier for the Clippers, but they’ll have plenty of hard matchups next season, starting on Opening Night, when they face the Lakers. Still, George looks confident ahead of the new season, and he has every right to feel that way. He and Leonard are expected to take it all, and not many people actually see any other team beating them.
