Paul George and Kawhi Leonard form one of the most formidable duos this season. With both being dominating two-way players, their games couldn't be more in sync.
But what we're seeing now almost became our reality much sooner.
Apparently, as he revealed to Ohm Youngmisuk, Paul George has wanted to play with Kawhi since at least 2017.
"I wanted to be traded to San Antonio," George says. "We wanted to go to San Antonio first, and we didn't make that happen."
A league source confirmed that the Pacers and Spurs talked, but San Antonio lacked the assets to pair George with Leonard."
Of course, we know how things developed after George's initial trade request from Indiana in 2017. He wound up in OKC, where he and Westbrook became teammates for two seasons before things eventually went downhill.
This past summer, with the Thunder suffering another disappointing series loss, George plotted an escape to the Clippers so that he might finally be united with Kawhi.
Together, the new pair are expected to lead the Clippers to a deep playoff run. Health aside, their combined talent is, at the very least, a thing to be feared in the West.
