The first two weeks of the NBA have presented plenty of things to debate and consider, starting from the best team in the league and each conference. It’s not a secret that the West is stacked this season, with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers considered to be the favorites to win it all next June.

These two squads have had a good start to the season, but some people believe right now, the Clips are better than the Lakers seeing the ways their respective games have developed. Former NBA forward Paul Pierce is one of those people who see the Clippers with a little advantage over the Purple and Gold right now.

During Friday’s edition of ESPN’s The Jump, Pierce was asked who he thought was the second-best team in the Western Conference:

“I think it’s the Lakers,” Pierce replied. “Anthony Davis has been great, we know what LeBron can do. LeBron doesn’t have to carry a big load because of Anthony Davis, he can count on Kuz for the season and be ready for the playoffs. This guy has been dominant, Anthony Davis. I think this is the second-best team in the West, Houston has been good, Utah has been good, but hands down, they got the two superstars that can take them to the Finals.”

This will be a common debate throughout this season and we have already started to see how things are going to work. Right now the Lakers are the leaders of the West after their hard-fought victory over the Dallas Mavericks, while the Clippers will try to continue the fight for the top spot of the conference.

These two squads are expected to face each other in the WCF next year, and we already know they are set to take it all.
