Pelicans Trade JJ Redick To The Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks made several interesting moves before the start of the season. They surrounded Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis with bruisers and players that could play physical basketball, but that hurt their spacing and their shooting.

That's why they recently traded for New Orleans Pelicans' guard JJ Redick, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic:

Redick hasn't been at his best since joining the Pelicans and it's clear that he'd prefer to play for a playoff team. And while he's struggled with his health this season, his sharpshooting skills would be welcomed on any championship contender.

The former Duke Blue Devil is one of the best and most efficient three-point shooters in NBA history (41.5% from beyond the arc per his career), so he'll be a massive boost for Rick Carlisle's team, especially considering the loss of Seth Curry to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Also, Charania added that the Mavericks will get Trey Lyles from the San Antonio Spurs. Lyles will give them more depth in the paint with his rebounding skills, something that'll also come pretty handily for them come playoff time.
