Even after everything the Lakers have been through, Rajon Rondo is hoping for a return. He is set to hit free agency this July, and his future is still up in the air.
"Absolutely," Rondo told ESPN when asked if he wanted to come back to the Lakers next season. "Absolutely. I mean, the only way we can go from here is up. So, I don't know what the future holds as far as the summer -- if I come back, or who else comes back or if I don't come back. Those things are out of my control. But at the same time, it's a great organization. I can't say enough about the staff and the people who work here. They're really kind and helpful, so I want to continue, if I can, help this organization grow."
It is no secret that the Lakers are in for a big summer. Besides LeBron James, nothing is off the table.
The young guys have been involved in trade rumors all season long, namely for Anthony Davis, who will be chased heavily once again when summer hits.
As far as the vets, like Rondo, McGee, and Stephenson, it is very likely they might be the odd men out as Magic Johnson looks to take advantage of a very rich free agent market.
Either way, no matter how much he wants to stay, there is no promise that the Lakers will look anything like the team they have today.
