Who would've thought?
Who would've thought that the injury-riddled 2014 NBA Draft pick would later go on to become one of the league's brightest stars? Who would've thought that the 2016 draftee out of Australia who couldn't shoot would grow into something extraordinarily special? Who would have thought that after so many years of tanking and losing, the Philadelphia 76ers would storm their way into the second round of the East Playoffs, with much anticipation for an NBA Finals appearance in June?
Who would have thought?
In the midst of all the scrutiny and the losing, a seed was planted... and it's finally starting to bloom. Truth be told, there's something truly special about this Sixer team. Call it luck or call it talent, the rise of Philly basketball can no longer be denied.
And for a guy like LeBron James, that's got to be something to keep his eyes on. According to Marc Stein of The New Tork Times, Philly's confidence in getting him is quickly rising:
"I now fully understand why whispers about the Philadelphia 76ers and their growing behind-the-scenes confidence that they can woo LeBron to Philly this summer are getting louder."
If things work out this way, there's a good chance LeBron and the Sixers meet in the Eastern Conference Finals, which would give LBJ a great taste of the Philly culture.
So while there are no promises on what James will do this summer, it is seeming increasingly likely that he may just end up a 76er... a result nobody could have predicted 2 years ago.
