Even though the San Antonio Spurs season has ended already, that doesn't mean the Kawhi Leonard drama has stopped, and it doesn't look like it will anytime soon.
The All-Star small forward failed to return to the Spurs in time for their first-round matchup with the second-seeded Golden State Warriors, leading to San Antonio being bounced out of the playoffs in five games. It was rumored that Kawhi was healthy enough to play in the playoffs, but opted against it, rather staying in New York with his own advisors rehabbing his injured quad.
Other reports have stated that the relationship between the Spurs organization and Leonard has been waning over the past few months while Kawhi has been injured and that he could be seeking a way out of San Antonio before next season. If that is indeed the case, things could be coming to a head very soon, as Kawhi has apparently returned to Texas from New York.
The fact that Leonard and his team have yet to schedule a meeting with the Spurs is concerning, as making contact with their star player -- something that has reportedly been hard to do while he's been injured -- should be priority number one for the Spurs.
