Report: Kawhi Leonard Won't Join The Lakers Because He Doesn't Want To Play Behind LeBron

Well this saga has just taken an unexpected turn, hasn't it?

Kawhi Leonard's intention to join the Los Angeles Lakers one way or another has been well-known for months now, ever since Kawhi's camp told the San Antonio Spurs he wanted out of SA.

But we could be looking at another Paul George situation come next summer.

According to Jalen Rose on ESPN's Get Up program, if Leonard does indeed leave Toronto next offseason, it won't be for the Lakers, specifically because the two-time Defensive Player of the Year doesn't want to play in LeBron James' shadow.

Rose backed up his rumor by stating that he was the one who broke the news that the relationship between Leonard and the Spurs was fractured all the way back in January.

Rose later added that if Leonard does leave Toronto for LA, it'll be for the Clippers, not the Lakers, a notion that has been parroted by other NBA media heads, including Spurs reporter Michael C. Wright and NBA Insider Shams Charania.
