Report: Western Conference Team Interested In J.R. Smith

In a new report by ESPN's Zach Lowe, a surprising Western Conference contender may be interested in the services of J.R. Smith.

According to Lowe, the Houston Rockets have "kicked the tires" on a potential trade with the Cavaliers for Smith, who became infamous for his Game 1 blunder in this year's NBA Finals.

With Kevin Love and Collin Sexton being the new cornerstones of the franchise, it's no surprise that the team would want to do away with J.R., considering his bone-headed legacy and ill-advised contract. On the Rockets, he'd be much more valuable while getting open looks with CP3 and James Harden attracting so much of the defense.

Pairing him with Carmelo Anthon (who is expected to sign with the team soon) is a questionable move at best, but it definitely gives the Rockets some more of the thing that's worked for them so well these past two seasons: shooting.
