It's only fitting that newest rookie sensation RJ Barrett will follow in the footsteps of other New York legends. By all accounts, it appears as if Barrett will be signing a deal with Puma brand. The hints were there from the beginning.
Not only was he repping a Puma full-zip jacket, but he also wore Puma sneakers during his NBA rookie photo shoot.
Today, he also made the official announcement at 4:30 PM during the launch of a brand new Puma store located in Manhattan.
He will join Allonzo Trier, Kevin Knox, Bobby Portis, and Knicks Hall of Famer Walt Frazier as wearers of the shoe brand.
"RJ's excited for the opportunity to have a prominent profile with a major brand," said his agent, Bill Duffy (via ESPN). "It's very unique. Of all the top brands, it's hard for a young guy to craft a lot of visibility early in their career. Puma has committed to him at that level, and it's very exciting."
No doubt, with the Knicks, Barrett has embraced his role as the face of the franchise. And now, he will embrace his role as the face of Puma.
