Russell Westbrook Is Averaging A Higher 3-Point Percentage Than Buddy Hield Over The Last 6 Games

Russell Westbrook Is Averaging A Higher 3-Point Percentage Than Buddy Hield Over The Last 6 Games

During the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were looking to bolster their team. In order to fulfill that, the organization decided to trade for Russell Westbrook. At the time, it was touted as a risky decision on the franchise's part. After all, since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russ has not been the same player.

He is not a bad player by any means, but his peak is certainly behind him. As a result, many sports pundits and fans were against this decision. Instead, they wanted the purple and gold to sign a proven shooter like Buddy Hield.

Initially, it felt like the concerns around Westbrook were legit as he struggled to get into form for the first few games of the season. Although Brodie is still struggling here and there, he has adjusted well to the Lakers' playing style.

Moreover, he has improved the worst part of his game, which is his 3-point shooting. Over the last few games, Russ has been shooting much better from beyond the arc and it has resulted in the Lakers playing much better.

On the other hand, Buddy Hield is going through a shooting slump. An NBA fan pointed out on Twitter that over the last six games, Russ has been shooting better than Hield from the 3-point line.

Russ has made 8 out of 21 three-point shots as compared to Hield's 7 out of 46 shooting at the same time. As a result, the former is shooting 38.1% as compared to the latter's 15.2%.

Even if we compare the two players' stats for the entire season, Westbrook comes out on top with 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. While Hield is averaging 15.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

It is safe to assume that so far the Lakers have made the right decision, but there is still a long way to go for the season to end. Additionally, the bigger goal for the franchise is to have a great playoff run and possibly win the 2022 NBA Championship. Currently, the team is far from that goal, but they have time on their side.

Hopefully, for Lakers fans, Westbrook will help the team in achieving this goal by playing at an elite level.
