Scotty Pippen Jr. didn't land on the 2022 NBA Draft with many expectations about getting drafted with one of the 60 selections. However, that wasn't the end of his dream, as he linked up with the Los Angeles Lakers and signed a two-way deal with the Purple and Gold to start his NBA career.
It wasn't an easy journey, but Pippen made it to the league out of Vanderbilt. Everybody in the Pippen family was happy to hear the news, especially his father, who didn't have the easiest journey to the NBA but ended his career as one of the biggest winners in league history.
Scottie took to social media to celebrate his son's achievement, recalling all the hard work he had to do to make it to this point where he can call himself an NBA player. Pippen also said that he wore purple in high school and is ready to use those colors again now that he's supporting his son.
One of the best moments I’ve experienced as a father was being by [Scotty's] side as his dream came true. Deuce, you worked hard, didn’t take any shortcuts, and pushed yourself to make this happen.
I’m so proud of you and I can’t wait to see what’s next. I wore purple in HS and college, and I’m ready to wear it again! #Lakers 🏀🙏🏾
Just like Shareef O'Neal, Scotty became another son of an NBA legend signing with the Los Angeles Lakers on draft night. Now he'll have the chance to develop his game and become a solid figure in the league, just like his father did with the Chicago Bulls in the 80s and 90s.
It's too early to tell how he'll fare in the association, but Scotty has all the support in the world to succeed.
