Shaq O'Neal Tries To Play Down Luka Doncic's Game-Winner: 'We've Seen That Before'

Luka Doncic led his Dallas Mavericks to a very valuable victory in front of the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. The 21-year-old point guard had a terrific game, scoring 43 points with 17 rebounds and 13 assists. However, the most impressive thing about his game was his game-winning shot in overtime to beat the Clippers and tie the series. The whole league enchanted with Doncic and his magnificent 3-pointer, but there was one person who wasn't that impressed.

After the game, the Inside the NBA crew was discussing Luka's performance and while the rest of the team was hyped, Shaquille O'Neal wasn't that impressed with the Slovenian. His 43/17/13 were a feat achieved only by two players in the past, Oscar Robertson and Charles Barkley. Shaq admitted that Doncic was good, that he can play, but also asked the crew to calm down since this wasn't the first time we saw someone making a shot like this.

When Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson replied that Doncic is great, Shaq somehow took a different path and asked if he was the 'top guard'. He then explained that he just saw the top guards in the week with James Harden and Damian Lillard, also throwing Stephen Curry to the mix. He said that all of Steph, Harden and Dame had made these types of shot so this wasn't the first time we have seen it.

Yet, with all the implications this game had, with all the obstacles Luka faced, without Porzingis, with a sprained ankle, being down 21 at some point in the game; that's impressive. Luka is only 21, in his first playoffs in the NBA and he's showing he's got it, he's showing he can compete, he can beat teams and he just started his adult life. Luka has a great case to be the future of the league and he's demonstrating that with his game and nothing else.
