Shaquille O’Neal has gone on to become one of the wealthiest players in NBA history. While Shaq was very well paid during his career in the NBA, it has been his post-NBA career that has proven to be extremely lucrative. A number of Shaq’s investments and ventures have paid off very well for him over the years.

But what about Shaq’s past, before he was an NBA player? How did he make money? Well, according to O’Neal himself from an interview in 2019, Shaq revealed that he once worked at McDonald’s for a day after an ultimatum from his father. But he quit at the end of the day because of the hard work, and also because he got caught stealing the fries (8:56 mark).

“I worked at McDonald’s one day. When I was a youngster my father said you babysit your siblings or you go to work. I said I’m not babysitting no kids. I went to work one day and I was like I quit. That’s why I respect the people that have real jobs because that’s hard hard work.”

“You know why I quit? Because I got caught stealing the fries.”

Shaq has spoken in the past about the way he has spent, and continuous to spend his money. He recently revealed how he gifted 1000 PS5s and Nintendo Switches to underprivileged children as a way to give back. On top of that, Shaq also spoke about how he spent $9 million in a day when he first moved to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Shaquille O’Neal clearly showed that he has a lot of respect for people who work jobs in the service sector. He once also revealed that he gave a restaurant server $4000 just because they asked him for it. Shaq has shown time and time again that he will use his money to help people as much as possible.
