Skip Bayless Reveals Kevin Durant Is Mad At Him Because Of Russell Westbrook: "He’s Just Trying To Be A Good Teammate, Sort Of Protect And Defend His Little Buddy, His Little Brother Who Kept Taking More And More Shots..."

Skip Bayless has been one of Kevin Durant's most vocal supporters throughout his career, even naming him the best player in the world for the last few years. Bayless has backed Durant since his Oklahoma City Thunder days but KD hasn't reciprocated the love, in fact, he has made his dislike for Skip apparent on several occasions.

Skip explained the reason behind Kevin Durant's dislike for him on his new Skip Bayless Show, explaining that it has to do with his comments about Russell Westbrook from when the duo were together in the Oklahoma City Thunder. Skip went on to call KD out for being wrong about Westbrook back then as well.

“No. I know you think you need to say that. But you know, you know you were wrong, Kevin Durant. you know I’m right about this. And I was a little hurt, and a lot offended. But I tried to chalk it up to, ‘He’s just trying to be a good teammate, sort of protect and defend his little buddy, his little brother who kept taking more and more shots.’ "

Skip Bayless has been critical of Westbrook taking too many shots since the 2011-2012 NBA finals, which had led to KD calling him out and defending Russ. Considering that the narrative around Westbrook in the last decade has been about his inefficiency in the playoffs, it makes sense that Bayless feels like he was right about the situation and that Durant was the one who got it wrong.

Skip Bayless is known for his incendiary takes on the NBA's elite stars, most commonly LeBron James, but it would seem that his criticism of Westbrook exceeds the criticism that he reserves for LeBron. Russ underperforming this season for the Los Angeles Lakers is not helping his case on this front either, with the point guard getting the lion's share of the blame as the Lakers struggle to a cement an automatic playoff spot.
