LeBron James and Michael Jordan will be forever intertwined in the GOAT debate. As LeBron plays out the final days of his career, he will continue to build the case that he is better than the Chicago Bulls icon.
Not everybody is sold, however, that he will ever reach that level. According to Skip Bayless, MJ will always be the GOAT.
"Michael Jordan is and always will be the GOAT.
In the end, Shannon, it's laughable for you to even try and make this case... The reason why he's got all those numbers is he's played forever. What's he up to -- 22 years now? He played in eight straight Finals because he was able to dominate the LEASTern Conference. SO he played in the Finals, he poured numbers into the stat sheets in the Finals, because he got to play in so many of them. But he's 3-6 in those Finals."
The quote comes after Jordan was named over LeBron as the best player to ever wear #23. To most, he's better than my player ever in the NBA.
Jordan is a 6x Champion, 10x Scoring Champ, 14x All-Star, 5x MVP, and first-ballot Hall of Famer. Over 15 seasons, he averaged 30 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on 49% shooting. He was as dominant, unstoppable, and talented as anyone we've ever seen.
But if there's anyone who stands a chance at surpassing him, it's LeBron James, who has built up quite a resume himself over the course of his 16-year career. He has three Championships, 16 All-Star appearances, and 4 MVPs. He's also third on the NBA's All-Time scoring list. Obviously people like Skip have their reservations about James, but his resume speaks for itself.
All-in-all, both Bron and Jordan are the best of the best. There really is no arguing their place in history. But when it comes to comparing them to each other, things can get pretty complicated. Perhaps we can all agree to disagree not his one?
