It’s not a secret that the NBA Finals is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Year after years lots of people try to attend a single game of the Finals and the prices of tickets go up to the sky; this is something nobody wants to miss and this year the expectations for the series is higher than in prior seasons.

The Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors will be playing the big series this season after eliminating the Milwaukee Bucks and the Portland Trail Blazers, respectively, and as the first game approaches, people start to get more anxious and somehow crazy about it.

A good example of the effect the Finals have in people is the ridiculous amount of money some people are willing to pay in order to get a pair of seats for the big games. Sports Business Reporter Darren Covell has reported that somebody paid over 50 grand for a pair of courtside seats.

The person in question paid specifically $56,876.77 USD ($76,477.50 CAD) on StubHub to Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. Obviously, this is a lot of cash and more when you see it’s only for the first game of the series. To put things in perspective, the average Canadian salary is $55 thousand dollars per year, so there you know how important and meaningful are the NBA Finals for some fans and the things they’re willing to do to not miss the action.

Perhaps this happens because is the first Finals ever in the Raptors’ history, but If that’s the price somebody paid in the first game of the series just imagine how high the prices will be if we get to a win-or-go-home scenario.
