The Chicago Bulls made a big splash this offseason, landing a couple of exciting pieces to help Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic get this team to compete in the Eastern Conference.
Besides Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, the Bulls added a talented veteran in DeMar DeRozan, trying to have a bigger chance at the championship next campaign. After playing with the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs, DeRozan is ready to bring his experience to Chicago and help the Bulls relive old glories.
This move is seen with good eyes by many people around the league. However, not everybody is convinced that DeRozan can work alongside Zach LaVine. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes that only one of them can shine, not the two at the same time (3:49).
“I don’t think the combination of DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine works. One or the other, yes, but not both of them together,” Smith said when discussing what team has a brighter future between the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks.
As stated before, nobody else in the league stopped to think about this. Perhaps this is Smith favoring his beloved Knicks over the Bulls since nothing points out that DeRozan and LaVine can’t work well together.
The Bulls are ready to have a competitive team once again. If this combination isn’t good, the repercussions will be huge. They are trying to return to the top of the league, and this squad seems capable enough of making some noise this season.
Time will tell if Stephen A. was right or the Bulls made a big mistake pairing DeRozan with LaVine.
