Stephen Curry has established himself as a Bay Area icon through both his play and his off-the-court activities. Curry has helped the Golden State Warriors win 4 championships in the last 8 years, and during his time with the franchise, he has also been helping out the community in various ways.

His wife Ayesha Curry has been quite involved with helping the community as well and the two of them embarked on a great initiative recently. Through their Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation, the two of them are having 150 small libraries installed in Oakland to help raise literacy.

Ayesha Curry: “From kindergarten through third grade, making sure that you are reading at your grade level by the time you get to third grade determines your entire educational future. So for us, turning those numbers around is just really, really important.”

Stephen Curry: “These boxes, can hopefully make the access to literacy resources and service these kids in a fun way and accessible way. Like Ayesha said 150 of these are going to go around Oakland in the right areas and locations. But that means 30,000 books at the hands of kids that need the inspiration, the tools to develop at the right ages and hopefully bring an amazing experience of fun to reading which is what it’s all about.”

The foundation’s website states that after more than a year of distance learning, only 15.4% of Black and 12.5% of Latino elementary school students are reading at grade level and they want to change that. It is a lovely gesture and it will definitely be of great help to those kids.

The Warriors Are Playing Well In Stephen Curry’s Absence

When Stephen Curry suffered a shoulder injury against the Indiana Pacers, which was set to rule him out of action for a while, you really worried for the Warriors. He had been carrying the team up to that point and struggled a lot initially when he was on the sidelines. It is a different situation now, though, as the Warriors are on a roll.

They have won 5 games in a row as they continue to have the best home record in the league, and Klay Thompson was simply spectacular in the latest win. He scored a season-high 54 points as they beat the Atlanta Hawks in double overtime. They are over .500 thanks to this winning run, and with Curry making good progress on his return, the Warriors look to be in a good place at the moment.
