Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, And Draymond Green Become Winningest Trio In NBA Finals For The Last 30 Years With Game 5 Win

The Golden State Warriors produced magic through the NBA Draft through the late-2000s and early 2010s. The Warriors drafted Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green in three drafts from 2009 to 2012, unknowingly creating a dynastic trio.

Since 2015, the Golden State Warriors have made 6 NBA Finals and are in the fight to win their fourth title right now. They have picked up 3 wins in the 2022 Finals against the Celtics and need just one more to cement themselves as the champions. In the process of their Game 5 win over the Boston Celtics, the Warriors trio made unique history.

Parts have come and gone, but the Curry-Thompson-Green trio has stuck through the years. Over their Finals career, the trio has won 20 games in the Finals, becoming the trio with the most wins since Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobli of the San Antonio Spurs dynasty.

This is a herculean achievement, as we rarely see elite teams dominate together for such an extended period with three primary stars. When the Spurs did it, it was rare. Now that the Warriors have done it, it's sending a message. If they win the title, they end this season at 21 Finals wins.

For perspective, even if a trio goes to 5 Finals and wins the title, they are left with just 20 wins, 1 short of the Warriors tally if they win the title this season. They did it over 6 Finals, winning 3 games in their 2016 loss to the Cavaliers and winning 2 games against the Raptors in 2019.

This is an achievement that won't be seen accomplished for a while, but there are promising young cores around the league. Whether they can develop into a force that can dominate the better part of a decade, maybe they can then challenge the Warriors.
