The Golden State Warriors proved to the world that their championship dynasty isn't over after they reclaimed the throne of world champions last season. They beat the talented Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, but no team came close to beating the Warriors during their run. It was relatively dominant, and they will hope to repeat that this season.
As it happens every season, most teams competing for the title have made moves to get better. In the West, teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves have made massive roster risks that could pose a threat to the Warriors. Out East, the teams have gotten even more competitive, especially the Philadelphia 76ers with their recent additions of P.J. Tucker and Montrezl Harrell.
Despite the league getting better around them, Steve Kerr isn't concerned about the Warriors being fatigued from their championship run last season and possibly failing to defend their title this season. He has made the team's intention to win the title in the 2022-23 season abundantly clear on the 'Damon And Ratto' show.
Can The Golden State Warriors Repeat As Champions?
The Warriors have the tools for a repeat, but they did see their roster get worse this season. They couldn't afford to hold on to their defensive guard stopper in Gary Payton II, along with other players leaving like Nemanja Bjelica and Otto Porter Jr.
The Warriors have added Donte DiVincenzo to their squad, which could be a very good pickup. However, there may be chemistry concerns on the Warriors squad as Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and even Draymond Green are playing for contracts.
With teams like the LA Clippers getting their two stars, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard back, while also adding John Wall, there are more threats to the Warriors this season than last season. This team is a living championship dynasty, so if someone had to pick a team to win the title next season right now, the Warriors would be your safest bet.
