Steve Kerr and NBA superstar LeBron James have a lot of history. In countless matchups and several Finals battles, it's fair to say there is a bit of a rivalry between Kerr's Warriors and the King.
Nevertheless, Kerr is willing to recognize greatness when he sees it. And in the case of LeBron, it is on a different level.
Following L.A.'s 120-94 over the Warriors on Wednesday night, Kerr offered some serious praise for Lakers star LeBron James, saying the four-time MVP is “probably the best athlete to ever walk this planet.”
His resume certainly speaks for itself. LeBron is a 15x All-Star, 4x MVP, 3x Champion, 3x Finals MVP, 2008 Scoring Champion, and a 15x All-NBA player. He averages 27 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.3 assists over the course of his career.
But his impact goes well beyond what he does with a basketball. He is a leader in the locker room and in his community, a winner both on and off the court.
Now, at 34-years-old, he is somehow still finding a way to produce at an elite level.
Kerr is witnessing it all from a coach's perspective, and from a guy who used to play with Michael Jordan. What James has done, what career he has built, it's undeniable in Kerr's eyes.
