One question that will never be solved in the basketball world is who the better basketballer is, Michael Jordan or LeBron James.
Without a doubt, the two champions of the game know they are both considered as the greatest player of all time by a lot of NBA fans.
However, it turns out that both LeBron and Jordan have a different way of looking at it when the topic of GOAT comes up in interviews.
Barstool Sports posted an interested comparison of the two superstars of when they are asked about being the GOAT and both answered very differently.
Michael Jordan certainly tried to take the humble approach as he wouldn’t admit that he was a greater player than some of the best in the past before him such as Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. The Interview that he was speaking it was right after the 1993 NBA Finals when Jordan accomplished what most could not by leading his Chicago Bulls to a three-peat.
Michael Jordan had another humble approach in an interview with Michael Wilbon.
“If you care about being called the greatest basketball player ever, does that matter, do you want that?” Jordan replies, “I don’t want it, in a sense, because I think it disrespects Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West — you know, all the guys that, prior to me, I never had a chance to play against. What everybody is saying I am, I never had the chance to compete against other legends that was prior to me.
"When I hear it, I cringe a little bit, because it’s a little bit embarrassing, because no one knows. I never had the chance to, once again, to play against those guys,” Jordan continues. “I would love to have played against them, but I never did. And for you to say that I’m better than him, I mean it’s your opinion, it’s their opinion. I accept that as their opinion.
“If you ask me, I would never say that I am the greatest player. That’s because I never played against all the people that represented the league prior to Michael Jordan.”
When LeBron spoke about the topic, he was quite honest and blunt by describing a moment in his career where he said to himself that he was the greatest.
“That’s what I felt. I was super, super ecstatic to win one for Cleveland because of the 52-year (championship) drought. And then after I stopped (celebrating), I was like, that one right there made you the greatest player of all time. Everybody was talking how they were the greatest team ever assembled, and for us to come back the way we came back, I was like, you did something special.
“That was one of the only times in my career I felt like, you did something special. I haven’t had much time to sit back and think (about my achievements). But that was a moment.”
After this video, NBA legends fire back when LeBron James said he was the greatest player of all time.
It’s hard to see there ever being an end to this debate, the two are champions of the game and unfortunately, we’ll never get to see the two go head to head on a basketball court.
We really have a lot of opinions and articles about Michael Jordan and LeBron James, so I will share a few.
and probably the best one:
Don't forget that LeBron James said that he is the best player in the world after Game 5 in the 2015 NBA Finals (Warriors won 4-2).
Is Michael Jordan The Greatest Ever? Check what Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Danny Ainge, and Kenny Smith said about that.
And I will leave you with a famous quote by Walter Payton:
“When you’re good at something, you’ll tell everyone. When you’re great at something, they’ll tell you.”
