After a great deal of speculation, Tyronn Lue is almost confirmed to be heading to Los Angeles to continue his coaching career. However, he isn’t arriving in L.A. to coach LeBron James and the Lakers, he’s here to coach the Clippers.
NBA analyst Rob Perez has offered up a possible reason for why Ty Lue has joined the Clippers, he says it may not be to do with revenge but to be a potential spy for LeBron.
Ty Lue was an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014, since then he’s been apart of the Cleveland Cavaliers. During that time, he coached LeBron James and was apart of the 2016 championship when the Cavs came back from a 3-1 deficit to claim victory.
There were rumors that Lue would be the perfect replacement for Luke Walton who was recently sacked by the Los Angeles Lakers. Negotiations fell through and Lue ended up withdrawing his name from consideration. The Clippers have taken advantage of this and now look to be closing in on an official deal with the former Cavaliers coach.
The Lakers and Clippers are already one of the most anticipated matchups of the season and Ty Lue moving to Los Angeles is only going to add a little more excitement to it all.
