Sometimes, the diamond in the ruff doesn't look like a diamond at all.
For Giannis Antetokounmpo, he was a diamond that looked more like coal. He was good -- and showed potential -- but nobody knew how good. For most teams, though, they at least flew down to Greece to check him out before writing him off.
The Knicks (fittingly) were the only team that couldn't even be bothered.
Giannis has become one of the NBA's best players. This season, he's leading the Bucks to the best record in the East while posting insane numbers. As he continues to improve, he finds new ways to make other teams regret passing on him years ago.
Funny thing is, the Knicks could use a guy like Giannis. After trading Porzingis, they're hanging their hat on convincing another star to come to town. Obviously, the Greek Freak would have been the guy for them.
Regardless, these types of mistakes are what makes the Knicks the Knicks... hopefully, that changes at some point -- but don't hold your breath!
