The Lakers Will Create A Superteam To Destroy The Golden State Warriors

The internet broke today, and it's all thanks to Kawhi Leonard.

Once news broke of his desire to leave the Spurs, the interweb went crazy with guesses and speculation about where he'll end up next. The only thing we know for sure: it won't be the Spurs.

So far though, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers have been named as the apparent front-runners to land the 2x All-Star. Yet, as great as this news is for Los Angeles, things could get even bigger for the franchise as the off-season rolls on. First, to get Kawhi, they'd have to trade assets, most likely giving up Kyle Kuzma, Luol Deng (to make the financial situation work), and a future first-rounder. It doesn't end there, though. Alongside Kawhi, the Lakers have enough room to bring in two max level contracts. Paul George could be one, as rumors indicate he's wanted to wear the purple and gold for at least two seasons now. LeBron James could be the other one, with many sources claiming his choice has come down to either Cleveland or LA. Between these realities and cryptic tweets/reports, it's becoming clear that a Laker superteam is not just "possible," but likely to become a thing. A lineup of Lonzo Ball, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and LeBron James is certainly enough to at least compete with the Warriors, and there's reason to believe at least two of those stars (Kawhi and PG) would remain in LA for the long-haul (maybe long after this Warrior's dynasty breaks up?). In simple terms, the Lakers are transforming into a Western Conference powerhouse before our very eyes... and, who knows, maybe it's all just been a part of Magic Jonson's intricate plan. One way or another, this summer will bring a lot of change to the NBA, and it's going to center around the Los Angeles Lakers.
