The New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers had similar stories in the last 6 or 7 years, but now things have changed. The Purple and Gold are leading the Western Conference this season after teaming up LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers are at the bubble trying to beat their rivals on the way to the Finals; on the other hand, the Knicks are still trying to overcome their bad situation.
The New Yorkers have been one of the worst (if not the worst) franchise in the NBA for several years now. The Knickerbockers can't get anything done and the luck doesn't seem to in their favor most of the time. Their fans are hopeful that things are going to change sooner than later, but that's a long shot right now.
There is one fact that gives the Knicks something to brag about on the Lakers' face. They won a playoff game more recently than the Californians, and the dates are not even close.
The Knicks won their last playoffs game in May of 2013, against the Indiana Pacers. Carmelo Anthony with 28 points led the Knicks to an 85-75 victory over Indiana. That win put the series 3-2 for Indy, who would win the next game to eliminate the Knicks.
The Lakers won their last postseason game a year before with a 99-96 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Kobe Bryant with 36 points led the Lakers to earn their first and only victory in the second round of the playoffs. That year the Thunder reached the Finals so you know they were inspired at that time.
Now things are about to change. In the middle of August, the Lakers will play in the postseason once again. The NBA restarts in two days and the Lakers are seen as one of the favorites to win it all this year. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are ready to dominate the league and break their streak. As for the Knicks, they're hoping to do the same soon, but that's very unlikely right now.
