The Inside the NBA crew is one of the funniest and most entertaining ones in NBA media, having four big figures analyzing the action every day, making jokes, roasting each other, and bringing a lot of joy (and sometimes anger) to fans around the world.
They have created a very good relationship but things weren't that good at the beginning, with some making childish jokes that weren't enjoyed by the others. One of the biggest cases happened to Ernie Johnson, who didn't anything to Charles Barkley and the 1993 NBA MVP decided to destroy his game notes during a commercial break.
Chuck and Kenny Smith recalled the story, stating that the original idea was Smith's, who somehow dared Barkley to rip up Johnson's notes. The Jet thought Barkley was going to fake the whole thing but he didn't do it and destroyed all the notes.
Smith revealed that that was the first time he saw Johnson cursing, and was even afraid of the man punching him for throwing that idea.

“He didn’t speak to us the rest of the show,” said Smith. “I was scared. I was like ‘Ernie might swing on me.’ He was like, ‘You started it because you gave him the notes.’”
The four-part 'Inside the Story' documentary will continue today, as part of the celebration of the 30 years of the show. His final chapter will be aired tomorrow immediately after the NBA All-Star Game.
