True, playing in the NBA is no small feat. Only the best of the best get to make it and even if you do, there is no guarantee you'll stick around for very long.
Among many other perks of being a pro-basketball player is the paycheck these players get simply for playing a sport that they love. For some, it earns them tens of millions of dollars. For most, however, their yearly earnings barely surpass the triple-figure mark.
These players are much more common than you'd think for a multitude of reasons. A lot of these contracts are the remaining bit of larger deals that the team has chosen to stretch over time. Some are the amount teams are required to pay these players after having been released mere weeks from them being signed (guaranteed money). Some are just really cheap, inexpensive contracts for players that teams were trying out. Either way, there are some really low numbers out there.
