Vanessa Bryant hit back at Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva for his challenge on LeBron James, asking the Los Angeles Lakers player to match reward money for information on the shooting of two deputies in Compton, California, last weekend.
Villanueva spoke to the press earlier this week, asking LeBron James to be involved in this case as he's been in others, even demanding the Lakers superstar to put some of his money to incentivize people to give information on this case.
“This challenge is to Lebron James. I want you to match that and double that reward,” Villanueva said. “I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community.
“And I appreciated that,” he continued. “But likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across all professions.”
LeBron hasn't responded yet and it doesn't look like he will anytime soon, but Vanessa was quick to call out the sheriff and his department, criticizing them for taking pictures of Kobe Bryant's dead body and leaking them. She took to Instagram to show her discomfort with the situation, sending a series of screenshots of tweets and articles blasting Villanueva and his department for their irresponsible behavior.
“How can he talk about trusting the system?” asked @ElanMaree in a quote tweet. “His sheriff’s department couldn’t be trusted to secure Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash scene, his deputies took and shared graphic photos of crash victims. Vanessa Bryant is suing them.”
LeBron has been very outspoken against racial injustices and police brutality and that stance will always bring controversy. Vanessa wasn't having any of that and her response was incredible.
