Ever since he came back from his latest injury, it seems like everybody's expecting Victor Oladipo to be traded at any minute, as the Indiana Pacers seem ready to move on from him with TJ Warren, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sabonis as their building blocks going forward.
Those reports and rumors have flooded social media lately, with some even claiming that Oladipo asked other teams if he could join them right in front of his current teammates.
And, with multiple teams reportedly interested in making a run at the former 2nd overall pick of the NBA Draft, the Indiana product had to shut down all that narrative by reaffirming his commitment to the Indiana Pacers for next season:
“I know there have been people saying that I have asked players to trade for me. That’s just not true, period. I love my teammates, I cherish the state of Indiana and I’m focused on leading this franchise to a title,” Oladipo told The Athletic.
Of course, we should take anything related to Victor Oladipo with a grain of salt right now. We've seen these kinds of things happen all the time in the NBA and once that ball starts rolling, it's unlikely that a player will stay with his team.
Whether Oladipo actually asked other teams to trade for him or not is something we may never know about. What's true is that it seems like his relationship with the Pacers organization has reached a complicated point and perhaps it would be better off for everybody to just part ways.
Should Oladipo demand a trade, it's believed that the Dallas Mavericks andLos Angeles Lakers would be near the top of the teams inquiring about his availability. As of now, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this situation unveils.
