The Dallas Mavericks may not have come away with the win when they faced the Golden State Warriors, but Luka Doncic left the match with a lot of praise from two opposition stars.
The 19-year-old Slovenian has arguably been the best rookie of the season and it continued when the Mavericks faced off against the Warriors in Oracle Arena. Doncic had 19 points and 5 rebounds in the four-point loss to Golden State but he did enough to catch the attention of Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
Both Green and Curry are three-time champions for the Warriors, their opinions are respected by everyone in the league. When they spoke after the match, they both took time to highly praise the young Mavericks rookie.
Draymond Green on Luka Doncic:
"That dude good...he got it. He gonna be a problem, he already a problem. He gonna be really good for a long time."
Steph Curry on Luka Doncic:
"He's very talented. He's smart, high-IQ guy, obviously," Curry said. "Has a lot of confidence to his game, lot of swag to his game. He came out firing tonight. With some patented moves that he showed, but he's a guy that just knows what he's doing out there. Obviously, he's a rookie, but he's found a way to impose his will most nights, and it's going to be good to see him develop in this league and a star."
Clearly if a two-time MVP and one of the best defensive players in the game talk highly about a rookie from an opposing team, it’s something not to take lightly.
Doncic has just played 30 NBA games in his career so far and has averaged a very impressive 18.8 points along with 6.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists. The Mavericks should be thrilled with the kind of star that they picked up in the Draft.
