Kevin Durant is the prize of the summer. His contract with the Warriors expires again this July -- only this time, most think he is walking to seek his next challenge as a star in the game.

But if you ask Warriors owner Joe Lacob about the future of his star, he seems to doubt that Durant will be going anywhere. In a recent interview with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, Lacob described why he believes Golden State provides KD with the best opportunity.

“We have a great team. We have great coaching. We have great fans. I don’t think anyone can match us, when you take everything into consideration if that’s the way you’re thinking about it. And he has a chance to win — and let’ s hope it goes well this year — a chance to win more championships. I mean, it could be legendary. If he stays here … I don’t know that you get this kind of opportunity very often. So I would hope that he thinks that and accepts that and decides he wants to stay.”

It is hard to argue there is a better situation than the Warriors. They have a loaded roster full of humble players and are being run by some of the smartest minds in the game.

The problem is, stars like Durant usually want to be "the guy" for their team. In Golden State, it is Steph's team. In fact, Durant was always the odd man out in the organization.

A move to the Knicks would not only provide KD a chance to run his own franchise but it could also help rebuild his legacy, the same legacy he diminished by the fans when he originally made the move.

There are pulls towards leaving and staying, and it will be up to Durant alone to decide which path he is more keen to take this offseason.
