For Warriors' guard Klay Thompson, re-signing with the team this summer was a no-brainer. A stable franchise, winning culture, and supportive teammates have cultivated a positive environment in which Thompson has thrived over the past couple of seasons.

For the Warriors, however, committing to Klay (despite his recent ACL tear) was even more of a sure-fire thing. See, putting aside loyalties, Thompson is a rare and special talent in the league. In fact, team owner Joe Lacob went so far as to say that Klay is the greatest in the world at his position.

"There was no doubt in my mind, whatsoever," Lacob said to NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole on the latest episode of The Warriors Insider Podcast. "I, and we, want Klay to be here for a long time. He's one of my favorite players in the world."

"Personally, I think he's the greatest two-guard -- I'm old school. I know it's positionless basketball, but I go by positions. To me, he's the greatest two-guard on the planet," Lacob said. "He's both ends. He's a two-way player. He's got great size and he's an incredible shooter and he plays hard."

Lacob is right in one thing: Thompson plays both sides. In today's game, "specialists" are becoming increasingly common, in that one player will focus their talents on one particular aspect of the game. Klay is a rare breed who excels on both ends of the floor.

No matter your opinion on him, you have to admit that he has been invaluable to the Warriors' success all these years. Without his defense and insane outside shooting, those 3 NBA Championships likely would have been a whole lot harder.
