One such case that we are sure most fans will remember is of Zaza Pachulia. Back in 2016, Pachulia was having a career year as he averaged 10.5 points and 10.8 rebounds before the NBA All-Star weekend break. This resulted in him getting trended across social media platforms.

Moreover, since Zaza comes from Georgia, the entire nation was behind the big man. He missed a surprise entry to the All-Star game by just 14,000 votes. Following this campaign, Pachulia joined the Golden State Warriors in the next season.

So even in the next All-Star game, Pachulia received a hefty amount of votes. According to a report by Sports Illustrated, Pachulia received more votes than the likes of Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kawhi Leonard.

"The Warriors’ new center nearly crashed the party last year thanks to support from his home country of Georgia and some ballot box-stuffing Internet tricksters, and he’s back again this year. Remarkably, Pachulia pulled down 439,675 votes, the eighth-most in the league, thereby blocking the likes of Anthony Davis, Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins from squeezing into a starter’s spot."

This time around, Pachulia received so many votes only due to it felt hilarious to many fans. Fortunately, the Georgian didn't snatch a spot from any deserving candidate. But what he did was stopped the above-mentioned big players from squeezing into a starting spot.
